KCGT’s purpose is to make birthday gift giving more meaningful for the birthday kid, the birthday guests and the community at large. Its founders, sisters Barb and Joan, share a lofty belief: that kids can be taught a lifelong lesson in giving by re-directing the way money is spent to celebrate their birthday.

Barb’s life revolves around kids. Over the course of her 18-year teaching career, she has been an elementary classroom teacher, teacher of Gifted and Talented students, tutor, soccer coach and swim-lesson coordinator. She has three kids of her own under age 10. Some say she is much like a kid herself. She is creative and silly, quick to laugh and quick to be laughed at. Barb’s life work and motherhood require her to see things through the eyes of a child, which is great because that’s her passion. . . teaching, nurturing, loving, entertaining and raising kids.

Barb’s sister, Joan, is the opposite. While Barb’s business is kids, Joan’s business is business. Joan’s analytical nature has her seeing things through the eyes of enterprise. She has an MBA from Drexel University. Twenty-four years ago, she started as the production manager for Pad and Publication under the tutelage of their father Carl, who founded the company in 1981 and she continues to run it as successfully as he did, eight years after his untimely death.

So together, these two sisters created an entity that would merge their respective talents and foster the ability to give back to the community. The result was the founding of KidsCanGiveToo.com, a masterful blend of the unique expertise of its creators.
