| Dear Parents, |
| |
When you hosted your child’s last birthday party and he or she received 20 plastic toys with several duplications and no gift receipts, did you think “There has to be a better way”?
Is it time to take the focus off the presents, and instead focus on the celebration, having fun with friends and family, and leave the gift-giving secondary?
Are you always wanting to teach your children about charitable giving but you never have the time or the opportunity?
Wouldn’t it be great if your kids could experience the joy of receiving and giving on their next birthday?
By hosting a Kids Can Give Too party, your kids will get to do just that. KCGT has been set up to enable you to manage gift-giving in a way that will provide an opportunity for all our children to experience the joy of giving and receiving.
We’re not talking no birthday presents at all. Every birthday boy or girl deserves a present. If you sign up to host a KCGT party, your child will decide how much of his or her birthday present to share with others, as well as how much to keep for him or herself.
Some of you may be thinking this sounds great, but how do I convince my kid, who loves opening gifts?
As parents, we make decisions about what is best for our kids all day long. Why not seize the teachable moment that a birthday party can provide? Here are some ideas to help win your child over:
|
| |
 |
Explain how great it will feel to be able to help others in need just by having a birthday party. |
 |
Remind them that they will use some of the money they receive for a Visa Gift card that they can use to buy a meaningful gift for themselves. |
 |
Tell them how proud they will feel when they tell their friends about the charity they all helped. |
 |
If it applies, tell them they will still be getting wrapped gifts from grandparents and other family members. |
|
| |
The old way of party-giving, with too many duplicated, open-and-tossed-aside, landfill-bound presents encourages kids to feel entitled to what they want, not just what they need. No kid needs 20 presents. They do, however, need to feel important.
They’ll get to feel important as they sit side-by-side with you, read about the charities, and decide which one they want to help. KCGT is the perfect solution to manage our modern day gift giving ritual and provide an opportunity for our children to experience the joy of giving.
