Sign on to www.KidsCanGiveToo.com and read about the different charities with your child. Ask you child to pick the charity that touches their heart. Then, help your child make a big poster with the chosen charity and a description of the cause. Include a great big thank you to the party guests. For example: I chose to give to the Ronald McDonald House. Now they can help house families of sick kids. Thanks for helping with your contribution |

Have your child wear their Kids Can Give Too t-shirt to their birthday party. Bring a permanent marker and have their party guests sign the T-shirt as way of showing unity and participation. |

Sign on to KidsCanGiveToo.com and read about the different charities with your child. Pick two or three charities that touch their heart. Then, at the birthday party take a few minutes and have your child explain what each of the charities do (if the kids are too young or not comfortable, then have an adult explain). Then tell the party guests that since they helped by making a contribution to the party kid’s birthday account, they get to help make the final decision of which charity to choose. Take a shoebox vote and then announce the winner at the end of the party. |

When everyone is gathered around to watch the birthday boy or girl blow out their candles, it’s a good time to thank the guests for helping them give to the charity of their choice and announce what they would like to buy with their Visa Gift card. If the birthday boy or girl is too young or not comfortable, then ask an adult to speak on behalf of the birthday child. |
 |
Read the book “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein. After the book, thank the party guests for helping your child learn the importance of giving like the boy in the book. You can also take this time say what charity your child chose and how he/she plans to spend their Visa Gift card. Always encourage your child to do the speaking if they are old enough and comfortable doing so. |

For a party favor, buy Hershey Bars for each of your party guests. Make another slide-off paper wrapper to place around the Hershey bar using a glue stick. Write or type the following poem on the “wrapper”: I had a goal to meet/You helped me get there/ Here’s a sweet treat. |
